Baker’s Lodge sits on the southern shores of the mighty Nile River which transects Murchison Falls National Park. The lodge derived its name from an English explorer Sir Samuel White Baker. This intimate, safari-styled lodge is set within a large private area with direct river access, large shady trees, and wetland areas hosting abundant birdlife along the water’s edge. The views onto the river are vast and just extraordinary with islands hosting nesting egret birds, elephants bathing, and pods of hippos regularly viewed.

Baker’s lodge comprises ten suites and each of them is raised from the ground on supporting pillars with its deck overlooking the river. The lodge is made of a choice of thatched safari cottages standing on raised platforms. Roll-up netted windows give extraordinary views of the bush, from your bed. The tented beds and en suite bathrooms made with traditional baths. The stay of the lodge gives that uninterrupted river views, enjoying the delicious great food served on a raised dining area with 180 degree panoramas over the Nile. Much care has been taken to ensure each of the ten suites has privacy as well as superb views either up or downstream.  The large, airy facilities are fan-cooled, have netted windows with opening options, customized solid wooden furniture, hanging mosquito nets, and especially selected locally crafted items for the accessories. The en-suite bathrooms are open plan with solar hot water showers and baths with a view in some units. Solar lighting completes the services for this eco-friendly top quality establishment.

The thatched central lounge, bar and dining area is raised with wooden decks all around. This consents guests to have the morning sunrise for breakfast, sunset in the evening with 180 degree river views and the cool breezes thereof. There is full multi-course dining with choices offered and accompanying wines. When the weather allows, guests are able to enjoy al-fresco dining on the decks or by the river.

Accessing the Baker’s Lodge

Located outside the boundaries of Murchison Falls National Park on the Southern Bank, accessed right from Mubako gate about 2.5km. And can as well take a charter flight that land either at Bungungu southern bank or Pakuba airstrip on the northern bank and transfer to the lodge.

Rates

Rates begin from US$ 240 per adult during Low Season (sharing in double/twin accommodation).

High Season Months: January, February, July, August, September, December

Shoulder Season Months: March, June, October

Low Season Months: April, May, November

Rates include: Full Board accommodation, 3 multiple course meals per day, all hot beverages and bar snacks, house drinks, and other camp services provided at Bakers Lodge

Prices Exclude:  National Parks Fees, Premium and non-house drinks, and optional activities.

NOTE:

Due to 2020 floods that flooded Baker’s lodge, it maintained being closed due to the reconstruction purposes going on.

Getting to Baker’s Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park

Baker’s Lodge can be accessed by road or air. By road, drive from Entebbe or Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park, and your journey can run for 6-7 hours. By air travel, you can depart from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) for Murchison’s airstrips like Bugungu, Pakuba, or Chobe.
