Boomu Women’s Group Bandas is a budget community owned lodge that is located at the edge of Murchison Falls National Park.
The word Boomu means “Together” derived from a local Kinyoro language. Formed in 1999, the project provides an opportunity to gain an insight into their lives and the issues that affect the local people, experience life in rural Uganda and learn about how your stay will benefit the community. The Boomu accommodation unity was started by the local women group who were doing subsistence farming. They had an aim of improving their standards of living, it’s a great idea for travelers on a budget trip especially when interested in backpacking.
The bandas are located at the edge of the southern bank of Murchison Falls National Park about 13 miles from Masindi town. The property is located next to the main road to Murchison Falls National Park from Masindi near the Kaniyo Pabidi chimpanzee eco-tourist viewing site. The many trees, shrubs, flowers, birds and butterflies give this site a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The site enjoys the best of both worlds, seclusion, and accessibility.
Boomu women’s group bandas offer simple ad comfortable bed rooms and also dormitory rooms available for those traveling in groups. As well for travelers with traveling with their camping gears, there is camping space at cheaper rates.
Boomu accommodation avails bandas, camping, shower and toilets. The camp has onsite restaurant that serves delicious meals. Daily breakfast is served to guest at the check-in time from 12:0 hrs. Both local and international cuisines are arranged for guest who wish to have their meals here.
They organize cultural tours to communities around, when visited the communities visitors are given the opportunity to interact with and have an insight with the local people. Experience life in Uganda, as you stay still benefit a lot of Uganda.

Note:
The maximum age of kids staying for free is two years old and identity card will be required to check-in the premises. The camp is near Pabidi forest where chimpanzee trekking is done. Guest can as well visit unique crafts shop with a lot of African locally made materials and have an opportunity to learn how to make this crafts.
